A Sigh of Relief
Yesterday marked a very significant day in The Long Road to Recovery. Archer was taken in for his pre-operation CT Scan, MRI and Audiogram and the news we received could not have been more welcome. First of all, his hearing is still perfect. Though certainly not our primary concern, it is good to hear (did you see what I did there?). Now on to the important stuff. The results of the CT Scan showed no signs of cancer in his lungs! This has been our primary concern and the subject of at least hundreds of people's prayers that I know of. The tumor on his liver has also reduced quite a bit and is isolated to the right lobe of his liver, making it easier to remove.
Prepare for the Worst
Now that we have such great news, it is time to spoil it with worry once again. Opposition in all things, right? Well, Archer will go in for surgery this Thursday for the removal of the tumor on his liver. being isolated to the right lobe, they can fairly easily go in, remove his gallbladder, and then cut along the avascular region between the right and left lobes of his liver, then removing the right lobe. There are the usual complications with any major surgery involving a vital organ, but that doesn't make us feel any better. The surgeon, as I have mentioned before, is one of the leading Hepatoblastoma experts in the world, so he couldn't be in better hands. After surgery, he will be hospitalized for 7 to 10 days, following an addition week or two of recovery at home, followed by his post-operation chemotherapy schedule. We'll keep our fingers crossed arms folded and our heads bowed for the next several days for sure.

God bless little Archer as he continues to receive the many tender mercies of The Lord. And to Aubrey and Cory please know of my love for your family. I feel inadequite (not just in spelling) but in my ability to help support you through this trial. There ia an articule in The BYU/Magazine that has touched my heart. I hope you will read it. In the Fall 2014 page29 "Sweet Above All That Is SWEET" by Sheri Dew. This talks of GRACE. Good luck my prayers and thoughts are in your behalf.....Love, Debbie Dunning
